Keyboard...?

Running Windows 10, there's nothing in "settings" (the cog sign) that I can see, the only thing that's showed is ENG on the task bar, when I click on that it gives two choices.....English US keyboard or English United Kingdom keyboard, at boot up it always seems to come on as UK keyboard then at some time later on in the day it changes (without me prompting) to US keyboard.

It's a PITA along with soya sauce bottles of today (at least the ones we end up with) I don't want to flush my dinner off the plate when I shake the soya sauce on, just some reasonable drops coming out like a vinegar bottle does will do, again all designed to extract more ££££'s over time.

Glad you've got to grips with the Insert key function and yes, it is easy to hit it by mistake, usually if you use the adjacent Backspace key and hit both together!

As far as I know, it isn't usually possible to change the language on the keyboard - it always sends the same code for each key and any necessary transposition is done in software.

If you think about it, the key layout varies considerably between US and UK keyboards, so you'd really have to swap a lot of the key caps around to change from one to the other - and replace some completely!

You think you've got problems - cant be anything like as bad as the day I opened a brand new bottle of Worcester sauce and discovered the hard way that, for some reason, it didn't have the usual sprinkler insert fitted!

Bear in mind that, unlike most sauces, Worcester sauce has the consistency of water!

The one we've got at the moment looks like the shaker slot's been done with a milling machine It gushes out and if we don't wipe the top before snapping the lid back we end up with freckles....so does the computer screen

Told you I was a computer numpt, it shows in the links US language removal....that's all that's on my laptop in its settings box....no other language, if I click on REMOVE US qwerty nothing happens, eg: it won't let me   But the qwerty board (the actual keyboard) on my laptop starts off in English then flips to US on its own later in the day, does it every day without any further shutdown/re-boot (computers on all day)

You didn't say it was a laptop. Not sure that matters.

I've managed to add an English qwerty, that has now enable me to remove the US qwerty in the settings box but on the task bar the choice still remains between English or US.....totally bamboozled now, I'll see what happens to it tomorrow.

In the language box via the settings, US English is the only one listed.....On the task bar there's a choice of UK or US keyboard (UK selected at present)......The only qwerty listed as installed in the settings box was US qwerty, I found where to install English qwerty in the options, I did that, that then allowed me to remove US qwerty, so to recap only English qwerty in the settings, only English(United States) language in the settings (there's an option to get an English(United Kingdom)) app but I'm loathed to download anything that might make things worse.

When I got this PC no problem.....when I switched to Windows 10 no problem.....but.....some months later, without prompting by me (so far as I'm aware) it decided to change from English UK keyboard on the task bar to US keyboard on a daily basis...….Boot up in the morning....UK keyboard.....no switchie off....by afternoon it has mysteriously changed to US keyboard....I then have to click on the relevant icon on the task bar and switch back to UK keyboard.

It can change by hitting the windows key and space bar but that would be unlikely to happen on a daily basis, I'm a single digit typist.

Booted up the PC up this morning after doing the alterations of yesterday, clicking on the ENG icon on the task bar now shows....

English (United States) United Kingdom keyboard

And....

English (United Kingdom) United Kingdom keyboard

Switching between either does not now affect what's displayed when I type.....so far so good....

If it's still ok at the end of the shift i'll be happy.
