I agree that Wikipedia article could be clearer - perhaps we should update it . I think I'd be happier with the IT diagram if the source was drawn in Delta configuration, but I guess they were trying to keep things simple as earthing was the main point they were trying to get across.

But yes, it's quite common to take one or more 11kV feeds and step them down on site - we do routinely.

Mark, we have an 11kv line running across our southern boundary, there are only two conductors, do I take it that one is neutral and one is a phase?

Yes, Mark - Until you mentioned it, I didn't recognise it as a delta at all! Why? Because it isn't drawn as one! And I see that the other drawings are not to the standard representations either. I can only deduce that they weren't produced by an engineer. However, all is a lot clearer now. I think you and I have just about exhausted this aspect of this thread: I've learnt a good deal about the various earthing systems in electrical power distribution; notes have been made.
