Anyone found a way of masking areas from French Polish? Normal Auto masking tape just curls up at a sniff of it.

I don't know the answe; is there special decorator's masking tape available.? I do remember an excellent thread on UKVRRR a few years ago, which might be of assistance:

Some ideas:
https://www.woodworkforums.com/f9/maskin...ish-100825 This article mentions a masking liquid which peels off when dry: http://www.aatuners.com/polish-your-own-piano.html This looks like the same notes as suggested by Gus but in a different forum: https://www.woodworkersinstitute.com/for...c6567.html

Not something I have tried, even with my art, but I have some art masking fluid which is a sort of rubber based brush on for paintings. It's probably time I experimented!

Thanks for the links.
I also have a pot of Humbrol Maskol, never used it. Nice video here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tqRwTz52DAE Somewhat doubt it would work with shellac but worth a try. Gary

I can report that Humbrol Maskol (latex rubber solution) worked well in a quick test.
Thanks Gary

Not actually tried them on French polish, but both Mylar and Kapton tapes generally seem willing to peel off many surfaces nicely.

The Maskol is good for detailed and intricate area as it can be applied with artists brushes.
