I am looking at a Quad 405 and a Quad 44 for a friend, they have not been used for a while.
The 44 had a few minor issues. The mains filter cap started to billow out stinky smoke. The output relay was not operating correctly resulting in some nasty thumps going through to the 405 and speakers. The OP phono sockets were loose.
These 3 problems have now been rectified.
On the 405 (board type 12368 issue 10) there is a very slight hum on the right channel only, the left channel is nice and clean. Both channels sound great when a signal is fed through.
Can anyone confirm if the 405 is known for very slight hum, it happens when it is connected to the 44, and is still there at the same level when the 44 is disconnected.
Thanks
Mike
