Hi everyone.
A little bit to introduce myself.
My name is Grant and I live in South Wales, a bit north of Cardiff.
For those of you who are in the retro electronics scene, you may have also seen me around the net (I try to keep the same "zx80nut" user so that I am recognisable).
I started electronics when I was about 8 years old (back in 1974, so you can do the maths as to my age!) in the "Glam Rock" era.
Started out with a "Logix Kosmos" Science Fun Experiments In Electronics which really got me hooked, particular the radio project at the end of the book.
This started me buying Magazines (Radio Constructor and Everyday Electronics) and I've kept the bug ever since. Like many, I knocked up crystal sets and other simple radios, including the "Matchbox Radio" in Everyday Electronics and a wood-and-screwcup construction of a MW receiver (STILL GOT IT) from a Ladybird book
My biggest project (when I was 13) was a mobile disco based on what was published in "Practical Wireless".
I still find creating MW Radios one of the most satisfying of my electronics activities.
Nowadays I'm heavy into the "retro" scene, collecting magazines, radios (vintage portable radios and Crystal Sets), 70s/80s music and whatever pops up that I remember wanting from that era but never could afford it at the time (I was only a kid).
Fun, as always....
Grant
