Interesting site (Bulgin plugs, sockets etc)

The outfit ('Brimal'), seem to sell a nice (though not very extensive) range of items of interest - switches, plugs, sockets, pots, paxolin sheet, PCB copper clad boards, test leads, terminals etc, all at very reasonable prices and postage. I seem to recall people trying to find those 250V 3A Bulgin plugs and sockets which are frowned upon these safety conscious days as not 100% safe from meddling fingers, but were used quite extensively of test gear etc. I've seen them for sale on e-bay are silly prices (silly as in 'sky-high'), but this outfit has them quite cheaply:

Just looked at their address, and that is only a stone's throw from where I go for my fish and chip lunch on the coast!!!! Well, I'll go to the foot of our stairs, as my dad used to say. I suspect it is a private address as I haven't seen any warehouse our retail premises there.

Looking at some old emails and orders, I ordered a few things from them last year - good prices and quick delivery.

Good spot with the SRBP : should get some of that. Often very handy for making custom tag panels and the like.

I did quite an extensive search for a supplier of Paxolin/Tufnol sheet at sensible prices and recently bought some 1mm, 2mm and 4mm thick 'phenolic' sheets (Tufnol substitute - available in brown or black), from a firm which has an e-bay shop. I didn't realise when I ordered it that the firm is located in Hull about three miles from me and is long-established. They also stock a wide range of similar materials in various thicknesses and size of sheet, and sell rod and bar too, in such materials as acetal and nylon, (but not tube, as far as I can see). To give a few examples, a 200mm x 150mm x 1mm sheet of phenolic Tufnol substitute would be £1.60. A 300mm X 300mm X 1mm sheet costs £3.85 and 300mm x 300mm x 3mm would be £4.95. (p&p varies from £1.35 upwards according to size and weight).

The black sheet makes nice substitute 'Vucanite' lookalike front panels for such things as test gear or repro crystal sets etc, and could no doubt be engraved with lettering at a trophy engraver shop then the lettering filled in with 'antique ivory' paint (aged white colour).
