Bush TR82C.

Hi everyone
just joined and just to say hello,i am a beginner in radio restoration & welcome any help thats available to me ,have already enjoyed reading many of the posts,
i want to start on a bush tr82 that i have that is not working as its battery powered & a safe place to start,just doing some research & getting a few tools together.

Welcome to the forum.

I'm a keen collector of all the model types (14 models and 11 chassis variations) that share the same TR82 case. Take a look at the following thread of mine; Bush MB60, TR82, VTR103 and other variants. I've just updated that thread for you by attaching a pdf of the article I did on these radios for the BVWS Bulletin back in 2010.

If you need any help or advice about safely disassembling your TR82 and getting working again I'd be only too happy to assist.

I have done a couple of TR82s and have to say be jolly careful taking the tuning dial off. They often brake badly.
I have just had a late night fixing a computer so I will post some photos of me getting one off from inside without stressing the plastic tomorrow.

hi just to say thank you & i have just read your post & was really interested in what you have put on it ,i did not realise that they done an export model,i will no doubt be picking your brain at times,is there good place to start on a tr 82 or is there anything that is a common fault on them ,mine switches on & you can hear it hissing but it has no tuning whatsoever.

If it's one of the later ones with AF11x transistors it's odds on those.

Hi Laurie,

First of all, what model TR82 do you have? Look at the plate fixed underneath the middle section of the case. It will have a type, like TR82B or TR82C etc and a serial number using the format XXX/XXXXX. What are the 3 digits at the beginning? When I have that information I will be better able to advise you further.

From the what you've described though it certainly sounds like you have a Mk.II model using AF11x transistors which commonly cause this particular fault symptom.
