New Chinese 'Classic' valve radios

Think Grundig, Telefunken, Saba etc!

I have a great fondness for those big piano key valve radios which started to come into the UK in the mid to late 1950s which the UK had little to match.

These from China look interesting and high end - not cheap tat.

No idea when - if ever - they'll go on sale in the UK:

Fascinating stuff David, I would not have thought there was sufficient market for products like these classic valve radios. Now that most European governments are pushing DAB everywhere I'm a little surprised the did't include that feature as well. Mind you, that would probably detract from their attractiveness to the vintage radio aficionados!

I'll keep an eye out for reviews - especially around build quality....

Classic Chinese copies: not that I, personally, have a problem with that, provided that the quality of the engineering is up to scratch. However, on appearance grounds alone, I do find the table models to be quite attractive.
But you've got to hand one thing to the Chinese: they certainly know how to spot a growing market when they see one - and get stuck in!

I guess the Chinese will use all the spectrum available for the foreseeable future.
I remember talking to Chinese mobile network designers a couple of years ago about planning permission etc. They said, "What's that, we need it we do it" Nuf said !

They seem well on their way to doing that now. Everytime I tune through the short-wave spectrum 7,200 kHz to about 17,000 kHz, all I seem to hear is CRI. Before too long, we'll be listening to CRI on Chinese-made radios, broadcast from Chinese transmitters - all powered from a Chinese-constructed nuclear power station.

They are just an extension of the Steepletone range with real valves added.
I don't blame them for not adding DAB.
We have awful mobile phone reception and FM that has worse reception than LW for Radio4.
DAB does not stand a chance. It is not yet worth buying a DAB set just to take it back to the shop again.
If someone gives me a broken one to fix I will leave things as they are.
