thanks very much paul, that is the actual set i sent pics of to rmorg years ago, id forgotten all about it , and never went back to see results, what can i say im astounded , and truly grateful, i think it was a guy from bavaria who put it up on forum for me , and it is obvious he did the research on it, maitiu

Hi Maitiu, found your Rmorg page, that Philips FIF-640A radiogram looks a solidly made beast, is it any relation I wonder to a early Fenman?

hi paul, no dont think so, the grammy is a philips based on a 640a philips chasis, whereas as far as i remember the fenman was made by pye, i got it in a skip in a posh part of dublin known as kenilworth sq, and you'll hardly believe me when i tell you i sat it on one pedal of a push bike and walked it a quarter of a mile to my home, with a resultant sore shoulder and arm for some time after, fired it up on a lamplimiter and away she went no bother. the turntable is also working but the spindle is missinng , i played a record or two on it with a pencil stuck down the center of the turn table.the cabinet was in a shambles with cement dust and builders gravel ,scratches etc, managed to clean it up a good bit, the turntable is also philips, thanks guys for all your help and interest, maitiu.

hi john, thanks for that, ive got the grammy up and running a long time now, used scratch coat and some filling , and its come up well enough [looks respectable]all im short of now is the spindle for the turntable, but knowing philips they had a different way of approaching things and im sure it would not be easy to source one to suit
, ive been down that road allready but all attempts failed
, i ended up with half a dozen spindles and not one to fit
