It was only a couple of weeks out.. pic mid 2008 .. I don't think the ANPR can handle those old black/silver plates.. especially when they are as filthy as mine were. (didn't dare wash it.. might have dissolved in a pile of rust)

Unfortunately ANPR can read almost any plate, if it can't for some reason it will alert the crew anyway and you get tugged for a routine check. They are increasingly been installed at fixed roadside locations too, there is almost no escape. The days of a sympathetic cops discretion are over.
I recall seeing a movie years ago, it was Sci-Fi sometime in the future, in one scene there was a guy on a bike, he'd had a hard day and was out on a deserted road in the States somewhere having a bit of high speed fun to relax. As he accelerates away from a bend at a rate of knots a low level, hidden roadside enforcement cam snaps him for speeding, and it shows a computer screen somewhere almost instantly I.D.'ing him, the vehicle, endorsing his licence, fining him, deducting that from his bank account and printing out the notification letter !
That day is almost with us.

It'd have hard trouble reading our errr 'Show Plate' Spaced as 'K17T FU' But that's another story

ANPR reads any plate, despite the fangled attempts to stop it, Trust me I know.

Thanks for the clarification Alan. Bad luck on your tangle with ANPR, they are a scourge on all that is fair and reasonable.
