Or better still fit a control with a 2 pole switch Why was the switch wired in the neutral lead? The reason I read was that with the chassis at neutral (connected correctly), then the switch wiring and switch, being near the audio amplifier input wiring there would be less hum pickup than if breaking the live lead.
