Could anyone who has one of these testers tell me about how many degrees the shadow moves through. I think maybe I'm expecting too much from it. Mine has maybe 70 or 80 degrees of movement. I have mocked up the rectifier and connected it with leads to the tester. I now have a steady 240 vdc with a few volts of ac on it. Instead of the electrolytic 1uf I was using, I tried a polypropylene instead which seems to have done the trick.
