90 per cent there now. Rewiring the small PCB has done the trick. Not only does the cassette now draw in but it locks as well. This is due to some wiring modifications. Sound is also really good - better than the 8 track. Only problem now is it eats the tape. It plays great but I the take-up spool has a problem I need to solve. Amazingly also the small belt flew off under test and I can't find it so I had to put on a new belt. Sod's law when you can't see the belt anywhere on the floor. Never mind - nearly home and dry.
