Mounted where they are, on the PCB some distance from the heatsink, those circuit breakers are surely not going to respond too much to temperature, other than the ambient level within the amplifier, but mainly to rising current caused by temperature rise, so, as you say, Mark, probably unlikely to react quickly enough to, e.g. thermal runaway, which they certainly didn't in this case!
