Well, my thanks to both Roger and Joe for this useful download. By the way, I remember LL-J when he wrote 'straight' radio servicing guides for specific sets in the 1950s for Practical Wireless. These guides were succinctly written and read easily but gave no hint at that time of the character of the man. Gordon J King - another brillant radio mind - also contributed to the 'Servicing Radio Receivers' series. Others may have done so as well but if so I've lost any memory of them. As almost all my vast collection of PWs was ruined by no fault of my own, I can no longer research them to clarify.
Who, I wonder, actually wrote the 'Dick and Smithy' pieces? Anybody know?
