All freeware downloads usually has a suggestion to send some money on a voluntary basis. If one did contribute in that way, why would that be any different to a one off small payment to eMClient for life?

But I guess that those who do use fully featured freeware mail clients don't contribute.

Maybe I'm just grumpy about this, but I just don't see the difference between a voluntary financial contribution for freeware, or a more formal one off £50 to eMClient.

I didnt mind paying an annual fee for EM as I did for OE Classic, folks have to make a living.

Had a look at EM but its not gone well for me. Firstly the UI where I cant get the 'screens' to have better contrast for the headings. Seems not possible to increase the size of the text.

Even struggling with this I couldn't find "Accounts" to open one. Perhaps I need to make it the default email client first.

Maybe the issue is that EM client has poor cross platform support, unknown trustworthyness and small user base compared to Thunderbird. It's not just about the money, which is more than £50.

Similarly I have bought CAD, Office, Image packages but I'm now using free & FOSS ones that are better supported.

It is not. It is £49.99 one off fee for life. Why can't you find that?

It is based in Prague (easily found). You can also find their founders, board members, and their main investor (easily found)

Platforms and external service integrations are all on Wikipedia.

As I've said before - I can't force you to like eMclient or to use it. But all the information is dead easy to find.

EMclient seems like a pretty decent email program and it had a good review on Techradar 3 years ago: https://www.techradar.com/reviews/em-client

Is it significantly better than Thunderbird? I've no idea, but TBird is amply good enough for my usage.

For those of us who use Linux EMclient is simply not available. For those who might be considering Linux it's just easier to use TBird as it's painless to move your profile(s) from other OSs to Linux.

I must admit that I find myself quite confused by your responses Mike. For a start the prices are quite clearly shown at the web site at the address Craig gave and I’ve attached screen shots in support of that. I really can't see where you get the €90 from but I'd happy for you to correct me if I'm wrong.

As to the features of the product, the vendor's web site has 5 pages of "feature" information each of which is (at a rough guess) twice the length of the Wikipedia article, so I'd suggest it's a little harsh to suggest that they " rely on Wikipedia rather than have the info clearly on their own site".

To be clear, I am a long time user of Thunderbird and I have no intention of swapping that for eM Client. Neither am I connected with it in any way. in fact I was blissfully unaware of it until Craig posted the link.

Likely it depends what country they think you are in. That's not what I see here.

I wasn't writing about features, which are on the site and show the free basic version is crippled and insecure. I was referring to owners, location, history, evidence of expertise on security etc, not features or platforms.
