I use a UV light box, and print a mask onto clear OHP film, or rather I did until recently, when I found a better alternative which will work reasonably well with my Epson printer. I think I mentioned elsewhere that 'Big Clive' (who you know), explained how to alter the printer settings in Epson printers to improve their ability to print onto OHPs, for which Epsons have no settings in the print options. The type of film I've started to use is called 'micro-porous fim for inkjets', and is described thus:
"A slightly milky, high quality acetate film for inkjet printers which is specifically designed for making stencils for screen printing. The milky micro-porous surface absorbs the ink from the printer to create a dense result, essential when it's being used to block out UV light with screen printing emulsions. The best quality photo-stencils can be made from this film. Can also be used permanent markers".

The PCB layout is one that I've tweaked for the mini mod. I wasn't keen on the original as it had small pads, narrow tracks and a large area of ground-plane. I've retained the same basic layout, but for DIY PCBs, I prefer as much space as possible between tracks, and pads for components such as inductors and ICs as large as they can be. You'll see that some of the lettering on the etched PCB (+ - A, L, R, and 'Mini Mod' hasn't come out well, but not worth scrapping the boards just because of that. They're fine in other respects. I tweaked the mask to make the lettering more prominent. I'm not putting forward the artwork as an exemplar - just did it to suit my own purposes.
I print a full sheet of images (six fit on an A4), then tape three images together to make sure that UV doesn't find its way through the black areas.
It could of course be reversed for the laser iron-on technique, and I guess that if it wasn't for the fact that I've been using a UV box for more than twenty years for occasional PCBs, I'd perhaps get a cheap mono laser printer and try that technique. I suppose we all do what seems to work for us.
