For many years I've been quite heavily into designing hifi, both solid and hollow state.
When using a high quality high sample rate ADC on a PC you need a very low noise buffer to act as a true RMS voltmeter and to protect the PC against wayward big DC offsets on OTL amps etc.
The design I'm using is based on the widely used Pete Millet ATEST - see http://www.pmillett.com/ATEST.htm
This a well thought out and tried and tested design but to get the lowest possible noise floor some extra work is needed. Part of that is mumetal screening....
