So far I've avoided the 'Short Sets' although it's mainly accidental.
Do you want me to measure the internal Timberwork for the Batteries? I guess the Accumulator part will still be there on the Chassis but the HT Battery Shelf will need to be constructed. Alan

Hi Alan,
I'd imagine the shelf for the HT battery is similar to the Pye Ireland model 69A. Nevertheless, the dimensions of the same part fitted in the 65A would be welcome. Geordie McBoyne.

I have a 67A, and I had a 15A and yes the chassis metalwork looked the same.
Both had an unused tuning capacitor fixing bracket - the bracket stuck out in mid-air with no corresponding hole in the chassis for a rubber-mount and screw. So this corner was unsupported. The 67A has a moulded cabinet; the 15A has a wooden cabinet and I guess the cabinet was as common an item as the chassis because the (mains) 15A had runners in the cabinet for the battery shelf, just as the (battery) 67A has a rectangular cut-out for the mains transformer. The IFT's are apparently the same - whatever, I cannibalised a pair of good ones from the 15A for my 67A, rewound the bad ones (not quite as well as the originals!) and replaced in the 15A. They worked...

Herewith the Shelf - a couple of dreadful Pictures and a Drawing. I think there are enough Dims but if I've missed any let me know.

The Shelf itself is Ply. It's supported on the LHS by an L_shaped (on its back) Wooden Bracket and on the RHS by a U-shaped one. It fits hard against the rear Surround. It sits about 7.5" above the bottom of the Cabinet. I expect you will have to adjust the total length to fit the actual Cabinet. Good Luck. Alan

Tried out the Pye 15A this evening. Standard test procedure, just plug it in. It works! and it works very well indeed. Short wave reception is excellent for a simple superhet. Medium wave performance is equally good and goes up to 1600Kc/s. Long reception is OKish.
The reason of course for bringing the set into workshop is to take measurements to make a replica cabinet for Trevor's model 65A. Nie bother, I should be able to copy this one. Geordie McBoyne.

Looking good chaps. Missed a call from David an hour or so ago and about to have some pain relief but will reply to the thread and speak to David in the morning
