Good afternoon all.
I have stumbled upon this forum quite by accident and I am so glad I have.
My name is Jamie. I hail from the land of Pork Pies and Stilton Cheese (Melton Mowbray) and I am one part of the East Midlands Cinema Organ Association. (EMCOA) and East Mids Organ Museum.
We've been spending the last 4 years setting up/building a venue to house two of the remaining three Conacher Cinema Organs.
More recently we've been involved with helping to save the organ side of Lucien Nunes' collection with the hope of restoring and showcasing them all again. As well as trying to continue his vision of MEET.
It has fallen to me to continue his research of the Compton Electrone systems, as well as the Burge and Miller valve oscillator organs mentioned in his massive organ post.
I was searching for some info on the Burge earlier today and the first link was to this forum. I have had some bittersweet travels down memory lane going through that thread as I am the Jamie mentioned in his final post there. The amp in question is still going strong. Though the organ it is in is having some issues with the pedal divider I need to get around to looking into.
Sadly he never did manage to get up to us to help fit those leslie controls. He did get up to help diagnose our Electrone which was shotgunning on the "A" generator. The bushing had failed and it had worn through the outer track. Running as it does at around 500Vdc, there was "some arcing" occuring which was understandibly upsetting the amplifiers.
I hope to continue his travels and will document things here as best I can. As I, a mere mortal try to re-amass the knowledge that was buried in Lucien's head.
