Not sure if this site has been mentioned before. It has many battery scans for those who wish to make up their own batteries for both valve and transistor radios, plus other interesting stuff. Well worth a look:

Oddly, the PP8 isn't covered but I have found a scan and, more to the point, the dimensions. I haven't printed it yet as I begrudge that amount of blue ink!

Excellent Tony - no doubt modesty precludes you from saying that there's countless other good stuff on the website too, which is clearly the culmination of years of effort and refinement to get it to this stage. I like the neat little signal injector/tracer project, and the facility to either power it from a PP3 battery, or to use the addtional pads for a small bridge rectifier to run it frojm a small mains transformer. Also the other little useful projects. There's a mine of information for newcomers and experienced restorers alike. The fact that the website has had more than 61,000 hits is testimony to its popularity. I first came across the sight when searching for one of your books, which is now out of print so I ordered the e-book, and very good it is too!

Unlike many sites, which start with good intentions but then go out of date, yours is bang up to date.

It's only a rough and ready prototype knocked up in a few minutes as I don't know the sizes needed nor do I have any plugs, hence the drill-bit playing the part.

If you think it's OK let me know the proper sizes, or better still send me a plug, and I'll make you whatever you want.

many thanks for the offer jo and if i fail i may have to take you up on it but having seen what you have done i will give it another try the main problem i have is if i make the tubes small enough for a tight fit its hard to get the plugs to fit. i tried a kind of wrap with small o rings on but not very good contact wise

Have you tried a model engineering supply company for small copper or brass tube Rob? They normally have quite a large range of tubing for use on locos and the like. It's worth a try.
