I found this clipping from a magazine. No idea when it was published, possibly late 1970s, early 1980s.

At home, our FM omni dipole was recently destroyed by one of the local overweight wood pigeons, (sky rats, diseased feathered sh1t factories, pick your term), that the invading hoards of city refugees think its a good idea to keep feeding.

Amie, I think you may have upset Mike, aka Crackle, with your post. He rather likes pigeons, and I don't mean in the culinary sense.

Rock doves/rock pigeon, collar doves all OK, (apart from the guano), it's the elephantine woodies that are the problem, greedy, distructive creatures. If Mike is encouraging those he may live to regret it when they take over... As for a culinary experience, casseroled in red wine is my favorite. Especially delicious after a morning spent cleaning the main ingredients calling card off of the cars black magic pearlecent paintwork. I don't want to appear to be singling out pigeon, we're also overrun with mallard ducks, (get forty of those in your garden on a hot summers day when they've been stuffed full with bread at the local pond... Phew, what a stink... And of course the grey squirrels, just rats with a really good public image. All invasive species that the "visitors" love to feed...

Young and tender, in orange sauce... yummy
We'd need help reducing the population though, never been so many of them since the local Chinese restaurant closed

That, Amie, is racist.
I was reading a collection of essays recently and in one of them, the author referred to "Lapin de rue" in Belgium. Cat. I've been to Belgium quite a lot in the past and I didn't think they ate pussy.
