Hi.
Today I decided to take a break from the D16T after having a bad day with it yesterday and not feeling too well, (I've a doctors appointment tomorrow) and had look at a Pye VT4 that I got on Sunday instead. It's been restored before but around 16 years ago. I powered it up and was rewarded with good sound but nothing on screen, there was line drive but no EHT or spark from the overwind. A little fault finding confirmed that the LOPT was the culprit, not an uncommon thing on the V4 & VT4, Ive two in the loft and ringing them on the scope confirmed they were duff too.
I'm going to try a Thorn 1500 Jelly Pot in the set hopefully tomorrow or Thursday all being well, whether a 625 line transformer will behave I'm not too sure but I'm pretty confident I can get it to work. Failing that I'll strip the overwind from one of the three in total Pye transformers and see if we can get it to ring.
The set has a regun CRT that is an electrostatic focussed type hence the lack of focus magnets.
