AJS headphones

I had a lucky ebay buy this week. I was looking for a pair of high impedance headphones. I got quite a shock when I looked closely and saw the AJS logo. AJS were best known for their motorbikes but also produced high quality radios during the early to mid 1920s. In 1927, the last year of radio production, their top of the range receiver cost £67 which was more expensive than their top of range bike! I used to have a 500cc AJS.
I will actually be using these, they will go very well with the 1930s 2 valve SW receiver which I am presently building.

A friend of mine sent me this link to an online history of AJS radios. "My" headphones are shown in an advert, costing 15/- in 1925.

I have in that style a S.G.Brown, which has an impedance of 4.000 ohms (2.000 + 2.000 ohms). That I have seen Guillermo Marconi used in several photos.

Except for one old ear unit, marked 'BBC' which works well and looks the part (similar in many ways to the above) I only have my Koss K-6 headphones which, although look and are more modern, are getting old themselves now. With my last regen I used a matching transformer as I think they are 800 ohm (I wired for mono so probably half that).
