600 ohm attenuators?

I've just found a few bits like this. This one measures about 70R between 1-3 and 2-4; about 2K7 between 1-2 and 3-4.

From the markings I assume it's a 2dB balanced attenuator for 600R audio circuits. Some are maked 2DB, other 6DB (all capitals, I know it's usual to write dB). A similar size device is white, branded PAINTON and marked 10DB, 600R, 1/8 WATT.

Also a couple of smaller red devices with 3 leads that are clearly from the same family. One is marked 75R 6DB which I think is self explanatory. The other AT1/75/6 which I suspect amounts to the same thing.

Anyone know where they were used? Does anyone have any use for them?

I've seen those around, but as 600 ohm working is very rare these days there's not much call for them.

Likewise the video ones were once common, but not any more.

Just interesting curios, sadly. Too nice to throw away, but no real practical use...

Thanks Mark. Rather what I thought. If I needed a 75R or 600R attenuator I'd just knock it up from a few resistors.
