Same line of thinking for me, but also from your picture, I couldn’t be 100% certain that your new transformer has a heater centre tap.
I see a white wire connected to tag strip ground and also a red and yellow striped wire connected to the same point.
If I assume that the white wire is the centre tap for the high voltage, then the yellow red wire should be the centre tap for the heaters.
But if the red yellow is actually a screening shroud, which some manufacturers provide, then that would suggest your transformer doesn’t have a heater centre tap.
Just to clarify that yellow red is the centre tap, see if you can measure 3v ac between ground and one of the green wires.
