Even at the simplest level, farms usually have an electricity supply so your tractor or other machinery has 2 batteries, just like your cordless drill. One on the machine doing work, the other being charged. Since the machines are likely to be self driving they can find their way back to the battery exchange point and do the whole thing without human intervention. With imagination better than mine I'm sure superior solutions will be found.
