The only good uses I can think of a for a x1 probe are:
1: To deliberately put 100pF or so on a point in a circuit to see if causes a malfunction
2: In very low frequency applications such as audio where the loading usually doesn't matter. Even then, a x10 probe will be equally good
3: Where you need as much gain as possible
Sometimes even a x10 probe will distort waveforms or cause a malfunction. Occasionally I'll put a 2nd x10 probe on the same test point to see what effect it has on the waveform.
