Yesterday I noticed that one of the guy ropes on my new aerial had snapped. It is anchored to an eye bolt on the roof of my new shed. http://www.golbornevintageradio.co.uk/fo...4#pid70874
I had previously heard a loud twang earlier in the day when I was in the shed but thought maybe a bird had flown into it.
I was impressed that my joint between the 2 lengths of timber held up OK with one support rope gone.
On investigation it was very clear the 6mm rope had been CHEWED through. We have seen a feral cat rubbing itself against it as he goes over the shed roof.
There was a blackened patch on the broken end of the rope where the cat had been rubbing itself.
Anyway I swapped the rope for a new length and took steps to prevent it happening again by inserting the rope through a couple of pipes, one to protect the rope and the other to protect where it was fitted to the eye bolt through the roof.
