The timebase and power supply chassis is almost ready for testing.
This receiver employs a selenium EHT rectifier although provision is made for an EY51 wire ended rectifier valve. The same set has a Mullard MW31-16 CRT which has the aquadag coating which can function as an EHT supply smoothing capacitor. This brings into question if the TCC Visconol capacitor is really necessary. Certainly the capacitor is needed if a Mazda CRM121 is fitted or any other uncoated CRT. The EHT capacitor does have a function, as a anchor post for the selenium EHT rectifier stick.
The third attachment shows the EHT capacitors, the original is the one with the selenium EHT rectifier attached to it. The other capacitor is likely to be the one that will be fitted in the set because it is possible to insert a new capacitor inside it, the original capacitor is too small to be re-stuffed.
Coming up is the most difficult part of the restoration, I have to turn my attention to of the rusty RF unit.
