Hey folks, I'm new to the forum but not to the hobby. My main interests are mid-century radio and audio kit. Current restoration project is a gorgeous Ekco A22.

Yup. The pressure is on to make a good job of restoring it. Happily, the set is cosmetically very good but most of the wiring had become incredibly dangerous.

Welcome to the forum. Nottingham is a cracking city, used to stomp about the place causing trouble in my youth. there's some nice parks, Wollaton Park and the Arboretum as well a few good music pub's.

A good modern replacement for those crumbling wires is modern silicon heat proof wire.
Most of us solder the new wire to the end of the old one and pull it through.

This, exactly. A forum member on another forum helpfully sold me some silicone coated copper in period colours. Using the old wire to pull the new one through was a trick I learned years ago from a domestic electrician who was doing some work for us. I should really start a thread about the project....how strict are you guys about going off topic?
