On the subject of the BBC during the war, they used the deep basement of Peter Jones shop in Oxford Street for some of their studios and I was contacted a few months ago by a gentleman looking for information concerning his father in law who was a founding left on Peter Jones' door step and rescued by BBC staff. He has recently traced more on this.
