Attached picture shows a classic Mark 2 Jaguar parked behind an Hyundai i20, a car one could consider as a Ford Focus in size.
The Korean car is actually slightly larger than the Jaguar.
The Jaguar is painted a classic car colour, Old English White.

The Ford Fiesta in its early shape was a "run-about" and later models got bigger until they were full size family cars.

Honda Civic, Fiat 500 and probably many more. Car size inflation seemes to be a way of life.

Hi Sam, it's the real thing alright but that Mitsuoka Viewt isn't a bad attempt to create a classic British car.

Yes, the Viewt is a pretty looking facsimile, small because its a Nissan 1.0 litre. They make a few good looking cars. Most of the new panels are glassfibre but are very convincing, there is one near home and it seems to be wearing well.

I had a 10 reg Hyundai i10 & it fitted in the garage no problems. Bought a new 17 reg i10 in March & it it only just squeezes in the garage, the sales bloke said it was the same size, the little fibber..

Is it extra length or width? Or even both?
I remember many years ago talking with a Ford (America) car designer, his answer to increasing sales and profit was to make cars wider as it was more cost effective than increasing length. It took less materials than a length increase which involves strengthening modifications. But we are talking about huge gas guzzlers here.

My first car was a Ford Fiesta, which I never regarded as small as compared to something like a mini even though people thought it was. My concern is not the size of the car though. It is with the size of the marked parking space which often does not seem to keep track of the car size.

Some supermarkets do indeed suffer with parking miser problems.
