Hi everyone, I'm Lucia, my interests are mostly high voltage and spark-related projects, like plasma balls, static generators and induction coils. Also more modern stuff like Arduino, electronics and sound art.

Welcome, Lucia. High voltages are good fun, provided you stay safe. Some of us work with pre-war TVs which have mains derived EHT - distinctly lethal if you touch it.

Thanks for the welcomes. 

I only do high voltage projects if they have a low current output. Anything which is high current, such as microwave oven transformers, is too dangerous for me.

I am trying to make a plasma speaker. For now I have made the flyback driver circuit and did a small Jacob's ladder with it.

The only plasma speakers I've made that sounded even vaguely reasonable were based on class e drivers. Have a look at Eastern Voltage Research.

Hi Nick, thanks for the link. Awesome that you have made Tesla coils. 

I might make one, it looks like an ambitious project but they are great fun. I went to the Cambridge Teslathon last year and there were all sorts of amazing coils and static generators on display.

Hi Lucia

Great that you're interested in HV - I used to exhibit at the Teslathons too but haven't been to Cambridge for a few years - mostly I designed novel DRSSTCs using surface mount stuff - there are some threads on them at 4HV (I presume that you are a member there). I also designed some novel disk platter launchers and electromagnetic can crushers using banks of 2,500uF, 500V low ESR caps...

I am not a member of 4HV yet, but will probably join soon, as there is a lot of interesting stuff there.

I try to be safe, I find projects more fun if they are not super scary (though maybe some might find the opposite...)

Hi Lucia and welcome.
I say some interesting "singing arc" speakers driven from a Tesla coil and playing guitar music at the Melbourne science museum when I visited last year; I think they have a video of it on their website.
