Shurflo Pump Repaired

That cheered me up as I thought I'd failed. The pump at first failed to prime. At that point I was disappointed. Then I tried putting the suction hose to a regular tap and got some water in it. After that I had one ice cream tub of water and a big paint tin and powered the pump. After that it pumped. Prior to that I used silicon on all gaskets but found torquing up the bolts tricky. Now I just have to hope no leaks return as the idea here is to save myself 90 quid on a new pump.
The next stage is to make a water tank and make a pipe insert for pump connection. I already have lots of plastic pipe because people chuck that away as well as old pumps. The sink unit I built last year after 5 attempts but the door was discarded by joiners so I hinged it on. I may use electric to heat water and not gas.
Basically I have to finish and be moved on this boat by August and the plan is to use wind and solar so I'm independent. All my radio work will be squeezed in between.

One of the snags is heating. I love wood burners but safety examiners dislike them on GRP. Also when my German Shep comes on it must be safe. Moreover, embers can make a well painted GRP boat dirty. I do have electric for fan heater but need a back-up (charcoal heaters are good but very costly.

Have you thought of using a Diesel heater such as an Eberspacher? I have one in my campervan and they are wonderful. They run on a sniff of fuel and only use 20-30W of power once started (20A startup current for the glow plug but only for a short while).

Mike is correect. They are not cheap. You will find also the Patsy charcoal heater is awesome but costs 1000 pounds. Unless I ask someone to weld me something similar.
I am currently fitting a cupboard door as it swelled and last year I made a cobble of the hinges (not recessing them). So today I have to try a refit - hold the door and screw in the hinges in awkward spaces. I also made a wedge not using a jigsaw but just a normal saw (it's all I have).
This boat must be finished, plumbed, carpeted, wired with solar and ready to stay on.
My radio work is being squeezed in at night. I am doing transistor circuits and have a good diagram to load. I was curious why the book called 2 resistors a voltage divider but only one was connected one end to chassis. It had me up late puzzzled.

If you recess the hinges (properly) you should be able to put the hinge screws into the door frame without holding the door when fitting those screws, for fitting hinges properly then forget about marking them out with a pencil, use a marking knife such as a Stanley blade, if you don't want the screws to follow the grain or the early/late wood rings such as in softwoods and pull the hinge out of alignment then use a self centering pilot drill assembly, they're not expensive, the hinges and thus the door will be spot on, the whole procedure can be done without the need to offer the door up to the opening for marking out. The trick is to cut out the recesses so that the hinges are an interference fit, then when the door with the hinges fitted is offered up to the door frame's hinge recesses a couple of light taps on the hinge faces will make them sit in the recesses nice and tight (door 90 degrees to the opening) Nothing baring a gust of wind or an out of plumb frame should cause the door to move while fixing.

We have a Morso Squirrel stove in the cabin, excellent stove which we can cook simple meals on and boil a kettle.

The door is fitted. Not an easy job for me but it's functional. The frame I built myself but the door assembbly and its frame came from a boat joiners workshop. My idea was to bed it in my frame. It's fair to say the new sink cupboard is better than the original (which I had to hack out ages ago due to wood rot.I did have trouble with the door sticking so tried planing and sanding. Finally the knob I took off and old drawer.
As to the Jabsco, I will try again but for now the Shurflo is fixed.
This boat must be finished but I think once I have the shower and water running I'll be on top of it.
