Allouis 162Khz

Hi.
Although the licence for 162kHz LW from Allouis will be revoked from 1 January 2017, it was announced on air this morning (21/12/16) that France Inter transmissions on that frequency will cease on 26 December 2016.

Is it to save money?
There is nothing else useful for the frequency. I can pick it up here (or did last time I checked).

Hi.
I realise there has been quite a lot of protest at the closure of RTE 1 on 252Khz and indeed it was given a stay of execution, I have heard that it could close in May. Another sad loss if it does happen.

At this rate there will soon be very few stations left on LW. In this area Allouis has always been a strong signal, as has Saarlouis (Europe#1), and Luxembourg. All these have signals virtually as strong as Radio 4, despite the fact that they are hundreds of miles away, whilst Droitwich is only about 50 miles, if that. I don't listen to LW a lot these days, but may do so whilst there is still something on there to hear!
