I am interested in technological developments in WW2 in particular radar. Considering the huge contribution that radar made it's general recognition seems to pale in to insignificance against other although very important developments, code breaking being one example. It is very likely that without the chain home stations being operational in 1940, Germany would have secured air superiority in what is known as the Battle of Britain and the war would have had a very different outcome.
I found the radar monument near Worth Matravess in Dorset impossible to visit if you have mobility difficulties being sited on the cliff edge a good walk from the road. I would have though it may have been better to locate it in a more accessible place perhaps where the main station was as there is nothing whatsoever to mark what was there. I suspect many visitors to this beautiful area are completely oblivious to the vital role it played in the war.
