I admit to being thoroughly confused about BNC connections and terminations. as I only work in the AF spectrum I don't suppose it matters if I use a 50 ohm cable.connector or whatever. That said as most AF gear is 600 ohm does this mean there is 600 ohm cable?
I've tried several BNC connectors, the ones with a tightening nut are easiest to use, but I've never managed to get a satisfactory finished connection. Some of the connectors I've tried to re use have the pin soldered the the cable inner, this a right b*gger to do as the pin end up covered in solder and hence wont go in.
Lastly I did think of using BNC's instead of RCA plugs as they're a lot better, but if getting the right connector with the right cable is so hard it sounds like a non starter. BNC's are even fiddlier to solder than some modern RCA plugs.
Andy.
