A&R Cambridge A60

Hi All,
Yes it is me - not been on here for a long time (6 months away on business plus) I know but finally had an opportunity to post.

I couldnt resist buying this old A60 for my den. The seller has indicated  

the amp switches on and outputs clear and without distortion on one channel.  The other channel is very muffled & quieter and has become steadily so over the last year of so.  It tends to pick up a bit, in terms of volume, when left on for a period of time;

Any thoughts where I might start looking for a fault?

I'd stick the same Signal up both Channels and compare the two. It looks nice and symmetrical.

In a word, capacitors.

Do you have a 'scope and an audio oscillator? If so, we could chase through logically until we find the offending item...

Alternatively, you could take the view that the caps that are presently OK probably haven't got much life left in them, and a blanket replacement might be in order. That's a personal decision...

Hi All,
Yes been away for a while doing some work for Sellafield project so its good to be back. I was based in Warrington for a while so it was a pity I didnt get an opportunity to catch up with some of you up north.

Alan - I've finally bought a new workshop for the garden which I'm in the process of insulating al the I can clear the garage and FINALLY get a Myford up and running. and also have an opportunity to do some electronics work in space, peace and quiet.

Mark - yes I've a scope and an audio oscillator. The next thing need is for the amp to arrive from the seller. I shall keep you posted.
