Mystery PYE - need some help to identify

I got a PYE in terrible condition - cabinet is a write-off. The valve set and lay-out are the same as the P35 but the dial is the same as a P45 (less bands). The cursor on mine is supported on one side only. I put a video clip on YT at - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DMwi2UCWdO0
I took a few photos of what was left of the cabinet - I can't find anything that looks like it online so far.
All help is greatly appreciated - I'm somewhat of a newcomer to this vintage radio stuff.

That's Pye P28:

Wavebands - 3xSW, MW, LW
Valves - ECH35, EF22, EBL31, AZ31
Date - 1949

Or should I say was!
What on earth happened to it?! Did it float from the UK to you :D

The dial looks right and the knob spacing is the same. The knobs on mine are all the same size but I guess there were all sorts of variations. The main difference though is the valve set - I have ECH35, EF39, EBC33, EL33, AZ31.

Says
"PYE 19D, T19D, P35, 19RG, P35RG" all had your line up, weird..
I'm afraid ALL of them models look identical to yours!
So looks like it'll be hard to narrow it down

Looks to me like a Pye P35. Apart from the EF39, which appears to be an EF22 in the Pye sheet I have. Yours is the standard line up for these valves though.

If you want the sheet, let me know. Also, try reading through the cabinet restoration section.

Hi John, welcome, i also have numerous Pye sets, one being a P35, nice radio, they come in all shapes like my old Pye 906 International circa 1939 . the one you have looks like Rob says ,a pye 19a it looks good, the older the sets the better, Pye did make some lovely sets, they sure did have a thing about Shortwave, there is a thread on here with P35 on....Alan.

hi john, i see from the dial its a cambridge uk made set, so you certainly dident pick that one up in limerick, interesting the shape of the cabinet , dont you think? resembles the grundig only smaller, with the flat top and blunt front , plus no bend at the bottom of front, only bent ply is at the sides, should be a little more easier to reproduce than the p53, as u say the only major diff seems to be the twin tuning condenser, so surely one of the schematics offered by steve should suffice, regards maitiu.
