Hi.
Call me an old fart if you must but Christmas for me is an important time of the year.
I was brought up by a religious fanatic mother and a father that was never about as he was a councillor and had numerous affairs. My mother never celebrated Christmas due to her "alternative" religions.
Since I've been married and have Children of my own I have always made Christmas special, the kids are adults now and are a pleasure to be around at the special times of the year.
We always enjoy all sorts of music all year round from 20's dance, electronic, classic and modern, at Christmas we enjoy the good old carols, and virtually everything that involves Christmas.
I normally have a simple FM system to feed the radios in the house from the radio in the bathroom to the ones fed from my aerial system.
I normally use a little car FM modulator that takes a memory stick. I opened it up to extract the RF output a couple of years ago. This year when I tested it there was no output. I now have used another one that was £2:99 from the local auto shop, it has only an audio input so my tablet will be feeding it with audio from the memory stick (350 tracks on repeat and shuffle). Previously I required some RF amplification to successfully run the radios in the house.
With the new modulator and the same amplifier I have discovered that I can pick up the signal a mile away
I have now dispensed with the amp and all is well.
The quality is first class, I am though adding an RDS encoder board form China for a bit of fun, It's only £15 but you can programme the station Ident.
Perhaps I'll do traffic reports for my street on Christmas Day
