Preventing CCleaner from removing files from Firefox

Having just run CCleaner, I found, as before, that it removes everything from  Firefox, including all the sites I regiularly visit, and I then have to laboriously re-enter everything.  There is no mention of Firefox in the checklist which appears at the LH side of the CCleaner menu, so no possibilty to uncheck anything there, although this facility exists for both IE and Chromium.  Whatever may be others opinions as to the desirability of keeping regularly visited sites URLs, etc. stored, I prefer to do this, so, is there any way to achieve this?   If not I shall feel like  uninstalling CCleaner, as I once did before, for the same reason, IIRC.

The simple answer is not to use CCleaner. It's not really needed and some of its functions can cause real probems if you're unlucky.

Did it really remove bookmarks from Firefox? I rather doubt it. More likely that the cache that does the autocomplete/suggested URL functionality was cleared out. For example I rarely access GVR from my bookmarks. I just type g in the address bar and click on GVR which is usually first in the list because I come here frequently.

I ran it on a laptop recently and it killed the USB connections. I had to do a Windows repair to recover it.

Yes, CCleaner is for when the machine is broken - not for routine maintenance

Running things like CCleaner for the sake of it is like taking tablets when you're not ill: If you were fine before you soon won't be.

OK I'll be different, I use CCleaner regularly.
I see no point in backing up a few hundred megabytes of dross such as the browser cache and always clean before running a backup.

CCleaner has never deleted Firefox bookmarks on any of my machines and if I wanted to preserve history there is that option under 'Applications'. (I don't save history I prefer to use bookmarks).

The only option I use is under 'Tools' > 'Cookies' where I choose to save the cookies containing the log-in details of this and other sites (only my wife and I have access to this computer).
With these saved and the bookmark for this forum in the title bar of Firefox I can open this site and log in with one click.

I can't remember when I last used CCleaner but just opened it and, on the Applications tab, right at the top is Firefox ...

I like your analogy, Joe! Since I switched to W10 Pro from W7 pro, I've not re-installed CCleaner, and everything seems to run OK without it, so I may leave it that way.

Migrate to a Linux Distro. All of these issues will go in a flash!
