Almost ashamed to ask this, but I have a friend with few resources and a Teinuro 15" tv/dvd player that says "No Signal" only, bit boring to watch but it does flit around the screen.

Model ZJZSM MK025 1551 BDTP
DVD player works.
I have fixed the 12v supply dongle SMPS, but know nothing about the TV front end. Could anybody point me in the right direction? I know the way to the tip but he needs a TV!

I know its a daft question but does it have a freeview tuner built in ?
If so is it set to DTV?
Does the DVD player work.

Thanks for taking an interest. Its a 2010 product. Digital built in, so yes DVT set. DVD plays OK. Suspect VGA D socket doesn't.
Remote finds everything, menu will do DTV scan, slowly, but finds nought. I don't even know where it is made or comes from though I could make a good guess its very far to the East.
Not my forte at all but he needs help.

The usual problems with these sorts of products are capacitors in the power supply - which you've done. But what about the rest of it? Internally there will be other regulators which might have bad caps... Be especially suspicious of switching regulators as they generally demand more of their capacitors.

And physical damage to the UHF input socket or the PCB in the front end can happen.

Possibly hot-melt glue that has gone conductive? Or bad lead-free soldering?

But other than those suggestions, it's hard to be optimistic. If it comes to it, set top boxes are very cheap - probably less than a tenner - and although less convenient, it's something to get him up and running again.
