Unusual MoT 'Failure'

I took my car for an MoT today, and after waiting for nearly an hour, I was told that they couldn't pass it.

The reason was that their exhaust gas analyser had gone wrong. Those analysers are all owned by the VOSA agency and the only user-maintenance allowed is change of filters. They called VOSA, who couldn't guarantee to get a replacement there until next Tuesday.

Think this fits under "Strange, but true"?

My strangest was with an old Horsebox. I returned to find the whole crew poring over Manuals.

What's the problem?
The Box is fine but we can't decide whether it should have Seat belts.
Errr. It's old and it was originally Registered as a Delivery Van so it was exempt.
Yes, but it isn't now, it's a Horsebox.

They continued to argue among themselves for some time before finally deciding it should have them fitted. I guess that was really back-protecting, and as I was going to fit them anyway it didn't matter.
It 'Passed' fine a Week later.

Well, I won't have to pay for the second one, but including getting there and back, it's about 2 hours wasted so effectively, an afternoon shot .

It was bad news all along. For the last 20 years, I'd been going to the same small family run garage for my MoTs, but when I rang them a few weeks ago, I found out they'd closed down last Xmas as they were losing money. So I took a chance with one of the big chains, being sure it would pass, and I've been punished accordingly.
