I picked up the correct tool to get the dust out of a radio cabinet only to be totally smoked out of my workshop Angry

Pooh

It smelled like a Rifa and it carried on stinking after I switched off.
The thing was on the live side of the power switch so it is double pooh Puke

There was more it was pulled in from the last room to be cleaned and was still plugged in there so that makes it triple pooh Puke

What a stinky job that was.
I shoved a VGA screen fly-back capacitor into it and put it back together again.

It took most of an hour to clean a radio speaker cloth and the workshop floor.
That should have taken 10 minutes but the vacuum cleaner added more time to the job.
At least I did not have to cart it to the workshop for the repair though.

Some days it's an infinite regression: to fix one thing, you have to fix the tool first, and to work on that, you need another one repaired...

I went to open my overhead garage door this morning, heard a loud bang, and the door gained about 40 lbs. One of the coil springs broke, same as its mate did last year. Oh well, 50 years from a Sears, Roebuck door isn't bad. I'll have to form a new coil on one end, same as I did for the other one.

Another RIFA nasty. I went over to an aunt's house today to fix a lightswitch. She said it had been smoking which seemed a bit unlikely. Turned out to be a dimmer with a RIFA cap in it. Because it's effectively in series with the lamp rather than across the mains it didn't go bang in usual RIFA style. It sat there and smoked for a while.
