This is really a plea for information. I've bought one of the above and I can't find anything about them.
It should have a Probe but it's missing. The Seller is looking for it so there's some hope.
It has no Mains Lead which is just as well as I might have been tempted to fire it up. It's a Standard Bulgin Connector so shouldn't pose much of a problem. Fortunately I can't lay a hand on one at the moment.
By the way, it really is Advance, not a later Gould.
It is, of course, full of Transistors, unlike my VM77s - https://golbornevintageradio.co.uk/forum...p?tid=3256
I'll really have to buy a VM78 too 'Fill in the gap'.
Internally it's pretty clean and well built, with just a bit of Battery corrosion kicking about.
The Switches on the Front imply that it has Rechargable Batteries. Well, there are Batteries in there. One is a 3R12 (MN1203, 3R12G, 3LR12, 3R12R, 1289) 4.5V Cycle Lamp Battery. The other is a stack of very corroded Tagged Cells. They don't look like NiCds but I could be wrong. I don't think the perpetrator should take up Battery manufacture any time soon. It's not clear that the two batteries are in Series, and they clearly aren't rechargable. There's also a single Battery Clip where I assume the original (Rechargable) Battery lived.
One other interesting feature is a 'Thing' behind the Front Panel. At first sight it looks like a Valve but I don't think it is. I can't read the text on it completely without taking it out but I think the last word is 'Chopper'. For the very sensitive Ranges a Chopper Stabilised AC Amplifier may well be a possiblity.
So, has anyone come across this Beast before?
