I went yesterday and like the weather what a great day it was.

Met many old friends and did lots of talking and only bought a couple of bits.

Went to the AGM and David, "Yorkie", who couldn't be there, won an award (I think it was the Pat Leggat) for best restoration article. This was for his work on inventing a universal jig to use a router for making radio back panels.

I voted for him, as to me the jig was clever and original. I was pleased that others agreed.

For those that haven't seen them the BVWS awards are made from glass and engraved. Being the Society that it is they are well made and attractive, unlike many items awarded by sports clubs for example.

So raise your glasses to David.

Strewth - thanks for the good new Gary - that was a bolt from the blue! There are so many excellent articles in the Bulletin that I never imagined that mine would get a look in.

The pics I took were - to say the least, a bit manky as it was winter and raining so all I could do was lift the garage door and take the pics with the jig on the floor of the garage. At least the pics of the finished backs weren't too bad. Initially I'd made one jig for just making one type of back (A 'Little Maestro') then went on to make two more purpose designed jigs until the penny dropped that I could make one universal one that would enable just about any back panel with slotted vent holes to be made, including for such sets as round Ekcos - A22 etc.

I must say - as others such as Gary, Colin, Robert Darwent, Joe, Tony Thompson and others who have submitted articles and had them published will I'm sure agree - that Carl Glover is very supportive and is a wizard at laying out the articles and fitting the text around the pictures.

Thanks for your vote Gary and everyone else for their kind words - praise indeed!

I quite agree about Carl's skills with the pictures. It was hard to believe that the ones in my article were the same ones even viewed on the same computer.

The point is David that it's a bit different from the usual Restoration Articles, and has universal application.
