Windows 8 has done extensive "Critical Updates" on my PC over the last week or so, 13 in all.
Went to use a desktop shortcut, to files in Documents, and it wasn't there and a lot of others had gone as well. Fortunately I don't store actual docs (well I hope so this time) there as they may have gone as well.
