Solder Pads?

Not sure if that's what they are called, they are in this video, if you fast forward they are shown in the last third of the video showing a better close up of part of the circuit board, the copper clad board is used as a ground plane the square "solder pads" are stuck down on the board, they are used for soldered circuit/component junctions, anyone know what they are called or where to obtain them?

i dont know what they are called but i used to make them by simply cutting out pieces of single sided copper clad board and supper glueing them on to the board.

I have since found a commercial supplier for ready made ones, I posted the same question on another forum (not that one) and the guys on there use a nibbler to make them direct from copper clad board.

The thought crossed my mind as well Alan, a valve base could be mounted on pillars then tinned copper wire from tags down to pads, apparently that pad method of construction is referred to as Manhatten Style amongst homebrewers.

Be careful with the dielectric properties, you may be adding quite a few pF and it may limit frequency range/bandwidth etc.
A slight aside as per repairing pads and tracks.
When I was a Macaroni student we were taught how to remove the pads from old fibreglass PCBs and how to use them to replace damaged pads caused by clumsy repair efforts.
That was when quality counted.

Apparently the effective capacitance of the pads if cut or punched from a copper clad board is around 1 pf, for the SW spectrum which I am intersted in the effect would be minimal.
