Not Another DAC90a!!

Hi All,
I picked this radio up last evening following a long drive to south London. I bought it for £4.99 and its cost me 3 times this in diesel to collect.

Its a Champion Meteor (my second Champion set) and its not one I have seen before which was the reason I couldn'r resist it. It'll have to wait until the VHF90 restoration is finished!!

Champions are bursting out all over it seems. There's one in the BVWS, I've got one on a shelf here and now this one.

If you want the trader sheet, just say.

This set uses Brimar valves - British made American or somerhing like that. As well as the obvious capacitors on these, check the Mains Dropper. This was an American design that had the extra resistor (R15 on the trader sheet) added and it's worth checking this.

Might be worth replacing with a capacitive dropper to minimise heat loss.

Nothing really out of the ordinary here.Good looking set though.

I've got the trader sheet - many thanks for your offer.
I agree that this will be worth having a cap dropper than have the heat from the resistive mains dropper in a set this size. I still have a 4uF motor run start one from the other Champion set that I was going to put it on. Ed Dinning made me a an autotransformer for that set.

Brimar means British Made American Range.
